What are the symptoms of a broken car engine mount?

When the car engine mount is damaged, the vehicle will show a variety of abnormal symptoms, which directly affect the driving experience and driving safety. As the core component supporting the engine, once the car engine mount is aged or broken, the most obvious phenomenon is abnormal vibration during vehicle startup or driving. For example, the steering wheel or seat shakes significantly at idle speed, and even the body has high-frequency resonance. This is usually due to the failure of the buffer rubber of the mount, which causes the vibration generated by the engine running to be directly transmitted to the body structure.

In addition, during acceleration or deceleration, the driver may feel a dull metal collision sound coming from the engine compartment, especially when passing through bumpy roads. The car engine mount that loses its elasticity cannot effectively suppress the displacement of the engine, resulting in hard friction between metal parts.

Another notable feature is that the frequency of abnormal noise in the engine compartment increases significantly. When the fixing function of the car engine mount is weakened, the engine will be slightly displaced due to inertia during operation, and the surrounding pipelines or accessories will be squeezed. For example, the friction sound between the exhaust pipe and the chassis components, the abnormal friction of the belt tensioner, etc. may occur frequently. Some car owners will also notice that when the vehicle makes a sharp turn or brakes suddenly, the engine compartment will make a "clicking" sound. This is often caused by abnormal displacement between the engine and the frame due to the broken bracket.

In more serious cases, a car engine bracket that has not been replaced for a long time may cause collateral damage, such as synchronous damage to the gearbox bracket, or poor contact of the engine wiring harness due to excessive pulling, and may even trigger the fault warning light, indicating that the power system is abnormal. If the above phenomenon is found, it is recommended to check and replace the damaged car engine bracket in time to avoid causing more complex mechanical failures.
